Festival · programme · first edition 2027
Two days. Five hours a day. Minimum.
The schedule goes up in spring 2027 with names and start times. The shape of the two days is decided already, and it is written out here in full: a stage from opening to close, a pavilion village open all day, a kitchen street, a learning track and a zone for children.

Who is on it.
Communities of the first edition programme their own pavilion and their own stage time. Ensembles from this city apply through Join. Diplomatic missions come in as programme partners.
Diplomatic missions accredited in Canada
A mission can send an artist, lend an exhibition, ship equipment or pay for a flight, and it is named in the description of that act. Operating a pavilion stays with organisations incorporated here, with a board that lives in this region.
Global Affairs Canada · resident diplomatic missions accredited in Canada, the great majority of them in Ottawa. This is the only hard festival number on this site.
Three rules hold all day.
- State flags stay off the masts. Symbols live in costume, ornament and the way a pavilion is dressed.
- Political campaigning, petitions and solicitation are barred, and that is announced at the gate.
- Every pavilion agrees its programme and its menu with the festival office before the gates open.
Bring your programme.
Performers apply through Join. Communities bring a pavilion and programme it themselves.

hello@capitalcultures.com
When does the schedule go up?
Spring 2027, on this page. The mailing list gets the same thing the same morning.
What time do the gates open?
Open until the permit window is confirmed. The plan is a nine-hour operating day with at least five hours of programme inside it, and the programme closes ahead of sunset — sunset in Ottawa on 7 August 2027 falls at 20:24.
Does it cost anything to get in?
Entry is free for the first edition. Food, drink and crafts are sold by the communities and the vendors, and that money stays with them.
Can my group perform?
Yes. The performer form opens in winter 2027 at Join → Performers. It asks for the ensemble, the line-up, set length, a technical rider and material we can watch.
Can an embassy put an act on the programme?
Yes, as a programme partner: an artist, an exhibition, equipment, a flight. The mission is named in the description of that act. Running a pavilion is a job for an organisation incorporated in Ontario with a board that lives in this region.
Will there be alcohol?
The first edition runs dry. That decision is made and it holds for 2027.
What happens if the permits move the dates?
This page changes the same day, and the mailing list hears it before anyone else.
Where to go next.
The two days above are built out of four other pages. Each one carries the part it owns.
